Outside Sales Representative
Propper has an exciting opportunity for the right sales professionals in New York City/New Jersey, Los Angeles, Denver/Salt Lake City, Michigan/Ohio, and Northwest territories. Our team is growing with a strong focus on delivering sustained growth in revenue and profitability. We are looking for a strong salesperson who is able to grow the specified territory by developing new dealers, growing existing dealers and generating demand by calling on and working with end-users.
Markets and end-users covered include but are not limited to:
- Military Bases/Units
- Military Direct
- Military Base Supply Stores
- Public Safety Dealers and Distributors
- Army/Navy Military Surplus stores
- Retail Storefronts
- Internet and Catalog Distributors
- Federal Agencies / Government
- Law Enforcement Agencies
- Fire Departments
- Correctional Facilities
- Security Organizations
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to travel up to 80% of the time making a minimum of 16-20 sales call per week, 4-5 per day. Overnight travel, at the company’s expense, will be required on a regular basis.
- The company requires that all customer contact information, activities and opportunities are entered into our customer relationship management system on a regular basis (At minimum must be up to date on weekly basis. Prefer daily updates.)
- Regular feedback and compliance with market assessment systems as required for marketing, forecasting and product development.
- Other reports and feedback as required by management.
- Attendance at Trade Shows and Sales Meetings will be required as necessary.
- Sales goals will be assigned and must be met.
- Candidate will uncover and secure opportunities within the Federal Government and Homeland Security Department.
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 4 years outside sales experience
- Prefer outside sales experience and existing contacts in listed markets and territory
- BA or BS degree in related field or equivalent experience
SKILLS
- Strong verbal and written communicator.
- Must be able to present yourself and our products in a professional manner.
- Need to be a self starter and competitor who will be focused on inside/out selling from the end user directed to the dealer base.
- Must be able to manage and grow our current customer base while looking for new accounts and opportunities to reach established sales goals.
- Basic computer skills are a must (Windows, Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Aptitude, receptiveness, and commitment to utilizing company’s information systems including Customer Relationship Management, Sales and Marketing System, and Inventory/Order Management System.
RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES (Essential Functions):
- Must be comfortable calling on the military and working with law enforcement end-users
- Must be able to spec into Government Agencies
- Sell and manage current dealer base through everyday business situations and through the bidding process
- Provide market and competitor feedback from the field
- Administer problems/opportunities as they occur
- Identify prospects and build new relationships
LICENSES
- Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs
- Rigorous travel schedule as outlined in job description
- Drug-testing will be completed
VISUAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Close vision (Clear vision at 20 inches or less), preferred.
- Color Vision (ability to identify and distinguish color)
